From creating artwork for myself to building a career in design.
My journey into graphic design started through music.
As a music artist myself, I relied heavily on graphic designers to create the artwork and visuals I needed for my music. Waiting for artwork, revisions and availability often became frustrating, and at times it felt like it was holding back my creativity and the direction I wanted to take my music.
So I decided to try designing my own artwork.
At the beginning, the work was far from where I wanted it to be. It was amateur, experimental and there was a lot I didn’t know. But instead of giving up, I became obsessed with learning. I spent years researching, experimenting and developing my skills, constantly looking at how I could improve.
Eventually, I reached a point where I created work that I was genuinely proud of.
“M.A.Designs started because I needed a way to bring my own ideas to life.”
From free projects to a business
That was the turning point.
I began offering my design services for free, using those opportunities to build experience, develop my portfolio and work with different artists and businesses. Every project became another opportunity to learn, refine my craft and understand what it takes to create work that has real impact.
Over seven years later, that journey has developed into M.A.Designs Ltd.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of businesses, brands and music artists, creating everything from branding and visual identities to album artwork, campaigns, merchandise and digital content.
The journey is still moving forward
I’m currently in the final year of a five-year Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, studying through the Open University in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, while continuing to work in children’s services alongside building my design career.
My goal is simple: to make graphic design my full-time career.
But there’s a bigger dream behind it too.
I want to build a career that gives me the freedom to work from anywhere, experience different cultures and travel the world as a freelance graphic designer, creating work I’m passionate about wherever I am.
